Stamina Deep Dive – Initial Findings

First of all, Happy New Year! Wishing you all the best for 2025 and some great success on and off the pitch.

When starting off deciding to look at stamina, I expected it to be reasonably complicated but scratching the surface has revealed even more to look at than I thought! Here’s a few initial bits!

Condition Regeneration

Perhaps the simplest area to understand. From the Footium Medium:

So whilst Stamina directly affects condition WITHIN matches, it has no impact on the condition outside of matches.

We reviewed the condition regeneration of all players across both our squads and it’s pretty conclusive; condition regenerates at around 0.5% an hour!

So when you’re planning ahead for your next match, keep this in mind.

Match Condition Loss

WELL THEN. If I thought the Footium Gods were smiling on me whilst looking at regeneration, they were not when I started looking into condition loss during a match. Here’s some initial points.

Notes On Goalkeepers

Goalkeepers, on the samples taken so far, are somewhat of an outlier. They seem to lose a few percentage points less condition during a 90 minute match than all other positions on the pitch. This would make sense, and align with real football and other football simulation games.

The rest of the team!

So, I was initially hoping for a similar result from condition loss to the stats on condition recovery, but consider me stupid! With mentality to factor in, as well as different positions on the pitch, formations and stamina stats, this is not as clear cut.

As a gauge, I took my two matches from New Year’s Eve, and took a snapshot of the condition of the players at the start and end of a 90 minute match. I removed players that didn’t play a full 90, removed keepers and played both matches on balanced.

Here’s the graph so far!

As you can see, there is a clear correlation between a players ‘Stamina’ rating, and the amount of ‘Condition’ they lose during a match. However, this does not appear to be linear on the initial sample.

The most condition lost during a match was 22, by a LW with 57 stamina. The least condition lost during a match was 15, by an AM with 87 stamina.

This graph is simply outfield players, and is not filtered by position.

Initially, I am starting to wonder whether wingers are an outlier, as the two disproportionately high players for condition lost are a LW and RW. But more to learn!

What Next?

Data, data, data. Time to get more data, and build up more information about stamina!

We’ll be spying on some of your matches for sure to get some data.

See you on the pitch.

Welcome To Not A Footium Blog

In 2022, I stumbled across an as yet un-released NFT project called Footium. What became a speculative purchase from some Zed Run winnings became a curiosity, then a passion, and now an obsession.

This blog will follow my Footium journey, dive into some of the topics of the game, and hopefully have some fun along the way!
