Hello everyone! Back with loads more Footium statistics for you all. After seeing how much everyone liked the Division 1 winner deep dive, I wanted to take a wider look at the divisions across all of Footium and see what it takes to win at each level.
Methodology
As you can imagine, there’s a lot to look at for something like this. There are 255 Leagues across the 8 Footium Divisions, and with that 255 League Winners for Season 2 in Footium.
We looked at the average match-day squad ratings for the winners in each division, taking into account growth over the season and accounting for any outliers (for example, players massively out of position if playing zombie teams.) We used a sample of 8 clubs minimum from Divisions with more than 8 Leagues and used every League in Divisions with 8 Leagues or Less.
We looked at League winners only, and then took the average squad rating of League winners at each level. So if a Squad Rating is 36.1, the average rating of the players in that squad is 36.1.
This allows us to look at the squad rating you “need” to win at each level in Footium, and look at which Divisions have the biggest gaps between them.
What does it take to win?

What Can We Learn?
There’s some really interesting insights from looking at the winners across the levels in Footium.
Not all Divisions are made equal, and the smaller the number of Leagues there are in a division the smaller the sample is and the potentially more competitive it gets to win the League.
At lower levels, there are more Zombie Teams, but there are Zombie Teams at every level of Footium and these factor into the standard in each League as well as generating those dreaded Zombie Wins!
Some key takeaways:
- There is a rating increase needed to win every time you go up a division, which is to be expected!
- The average squad rating increase you need from one Division to the next to win is 5.3.
- The smallest jump in Division winning squad rating is from Division 7 to Division 6.
- The biggest jump is from Division 3 to Division 2.
- The smallest ‘spread’ of potential winning squad ratings is in Division 2, but this is only 2 Leagues.
- There are some key jumps in standard; the jump from Division 6 to 5, the jump from Division 4 to 3 and the jump from Division 3 to 2.
- Whilst not covered in the stats, very few title winning teams were in the relegation zone in their new league.
Conclusion
I hope this data is useful! Ideally it can help you ‘benchmark’ and aim for a certain level of Squad to get out of the Division you are in.
As Zombie Teams drop off and Footium progresses, it’ll be interesting to see if these ratings go up and the game gets more competitive! Let’s hope it does.
See you all on the pitch.
