It begins, as it always does, by accident.
I’d been burnt by projects before; investing hard earned money from my day job into what I thought was going to be the next big thing, only for the creeping mist of disappointment to sweep over me.
Whether it was NFT racehorses, greyhounds or even chickens, I kept building up what I thought was going to be my new empire, only to have it taken down.
I had gone off the whole idea, but then a surprise win on an otherwise unremarkable day caught me off guard. Usually, I’d have poured that money back into my current projects; staying on the ferris wheel until I couldn’t get off again, but this time I looked around.
Footium popped up. I love football. Undoubtedly, I will have spent more of my life playing FIFA, watching live matches and playing the sport than I will have dedicated to most other things in my life.
Marrouck Villa? What a silly name. How much? What a rip off. The game isn’t even launched yet? Whoops, I’ve just bought a club.
And so, it began. And I’ve never looked back.
